How tall is our chapel?

The students from 2nd ESO A have been measuring the height of different points in the school using the similarity of triangles. Using the shadows of small, manageable objects, they were able to determine the height of points such as the top of a tree over 10 metres high and the roof of the chapel, by means of geometric proportionality.

This type of activities are very useful to show our students that Mathematics is not an abstract subject that they learn in the school, but one essential part of our everyday lives. Maths is everywhere!
